85% of Mexico is in drought conditions right now. The second largest lake in the country is nearly completely gone. Reservoirs and rivers are drying up. This is the third year in a row of extreme drought conditions. Some residents have been storing rain water collected from systems installed on their roofs and gutters.

Mexico City is rationing water and 70% of its residents now only have running water 12 hours out of the day.

Meanwhile Coca Cola continues to extract billions of gallons of water per year from Mexico to produce sodas that are then sold back to residents that can’t access water, causing diabetes to skyrocket into a public health crisis.

Mexican conservationist here. This is true. Also deforestation is on the rise due to animal agriculture and unsustainable agriculture like avocado to provide the world with that delicious avocado toast… it’s not just the big companies, is also feeding the world with and unsustainable diet. It’s also the government destroying wetlands and forests to build car infrastructure and fossil fuel refineries. Let the world know. Mexico is going through hell and the government is complicit.
